Fall Drama For Luke and Kendall: Seussical!!

Luke and Kendall had their drama performance on December 4th and 5th. They had one performance on Friday morning, which our whole family went to, plus Geedi. Will, Bo, and Noah didn't take their eyes off the stage for a minute. It was a special time for us to all watch the play actually happen in real life...after listening to it in the car for so long. Then they had 2 performances on Saturday. Amy and Lauren, Cathy and AG, Samuel, and Julia, Grandmom and Grandad, Kelly and Rivers, Malaya, and Peyton, and Dad and I all came to this performance. And then Dad, me, Will, and Geedi came to the 3rd and final one.

Now, for my Mommy Moment (written on the day of the first play)...The level of excitement in the car on the way today was so high. You have to understand...Luke has been making up shows at home and performing them since he's been about 2 years old. And as soon as Kendall was old enough to play a part, she joined in too. And then Will. They love to make up shows at home and perform them for anyone who will watch. It's just what they do!

And we (me and the 5 kids) have been listening to the CD of the music for the play in the car ever since the beginning of September. All of the kids knew every single word to the whole CD. So for Will, Bo, and Noah to be going to watch it all take place on stage, and to see their Luke and Kendall on stage acting and singing, it was just special. Definitely a family affair to remember. Bo and Noah did not take their eyes off the stage one time, and it was an hour and 15 minutes long.

I had tears streaming down my face for about the first 30 minutes. I mean, my kids are not superstars by any means to the strangers' eye, but to me they were superstars today and I was just so proud of them. They performed so well and said it was so much fun to be up on stage. I get 2 more chances to see them in action tomorrow, and I can't wait.

On the way to the play today I was giving them a few last minute reminders and pointers and Luke held up his hand to me and said "Mom, I have been professional (ly) trained now. Don't tell me anything. You might mess me up." HA! :)

This is from before the show on Friday.

L and K had to be there an hour early, so me and the 3 little guys had lots of time to wait around. Fun, fun....

After the show...

So after the 1st show on Saturday the kids got to come out for a 'Walk of Fame' where they could get pictures made and sign autographs.

Luke with his fans Rivers and Malaya (his hair is not on here)...

Luke with his buddy Samuel...

Signing his autograph...

The playbills had their pictures in them and a little write up about each kid. This is where it said that Kendall wants to be a vet or ice cream maker and Luke wants to work at Carowinds when they grow up...

Kendall the Who hugging her cousin Rivers...

Kendall didn't come out with her cute little green heart shaped earmuffs that she wore in the show...they were so cute.

With all the cousins that came except for Peyton...

Signing her autograph for my sister Angie...

This is a song where K was a Jungle Animal, right there in the middle...

Luke, the front Wick, lookin' tough...

In action...

K on the left in the green dress, with a brown hat on this time. These are the Whos pleading to Horton to save them...

Luke on the right. See that fancy hair...

Will and my mom came back for the 3rd show...

K chatting with my mom...

It was definitely an event to remember...in fact, a whole semester to remember. Luke and Kendall loved it so much, and so did all of us.

Laser Tag With Friends...

Friday we went to play Laser Tag with some fellow homeschooler friends...kind of a 'last day of school before Christmas break' shindig for us.

Luke, Samuel, Will, Andrew, and Julia...

And Green's team captain, the lovely Mrs. Bethany...

Warrior Princesses Anna Grace, Maggie, and Kendall...

Team Orange (Jonathan, Morgan, Daniel, Maggie, AG, and K) who were the winners, by the way...

...then we ate lunch at Chick-fil-a together. Fun day.

To Work With Dad...

The kids are always begging to go to work with Dad. The week before and after Christmas is sort of slow at Dad's work, so he's taking turns taking the kids with him for the day. Will went first.

They went to get tires done, went to McDonald's for breakfast, went to the bank, went to work, Will watched 2 movies, cut something out for mom, colored and wrote words with a pen and highlighter (which he was VERY proud of when he got home), and went to lunch. He will be in for a rude awakening when he's a man and has to go to real work! :)

Friendship Trays...

We are back into delivering Friendship Trays once a month. It was fun to do it in December because we were able to make these cute ornaments to hand out to the elderly folks with their meal.

It was so special to see them light up when they realized the kids had made an ornament for them and wished them a Merry Christmas. The kids genuinely enjoyed it and I hope are learning what giving and spreading God's love is all about, and what a joy it brings to your heart.

Ray's Splash Planet...

Earlier in December Ray's Splash Planet had free admission if you wore santa hats. So of course we took advantage of that! We went for a couple hours in the morning and had the place to ourselves for most of the time.

Noah wanted to ride the big waterslide but was too short. (I think he would have chickened out at the top)...

That's the big waterslide. Today Will went down for the first time. I was so proud of him and he loved it!

Here's the place. It also has a little lazy river, volleyball and basketball...

K pooped out on the boys and laid down to rest...

Will, Bo, and Noah Playing Christmas Handbells at Church...

Will was super serious about the job at hand, and Bo and Noah also did great and got so excited each time their bell color came up. :)

It was just so so cute.

Fall Sports...

Luke and Will both played flag football with our city league this fall. Will's age group had a 30 minute practice with a 30 minute game each Saturday morning (at 8 a.m!). Luke had one practice on a weeknight and a game on Saturday. Geoff was Luke's coach, but Will's age group was run by the league directors. They both loved their first experience with football and I think learned a lot about the game.

Here are some random pictures throughout the season...of the players and the fans.

Will keepin' the boys in line...
