General, Week 7 and 8...

In our Bible reading we read the parable of the sowers. We took some time with that one and L and K drew a picture of each one and wrote the main point. Then they colored the one that they want to be.

Yay!

Luke finished this book and is moving on to Grand Tour II. Go Luke!

Fuzzy Wuzzy, Our Week-Long Pet...

The kids found this funny guy (a Wooly Worm) in the Firehouse Subs parking lot and rescued it from squishing danger. It lived for about a week and was fun entertainment for all. Including Zoe.

History, Week Seven...

Week 7's topics included:
1. Moses and the Exodus
2. The Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle
3. Joshua, Jericho, and Rahab

Pretest

Moses and the Exodus-read the lesson/story and watched Prince of Egypt movie. We went into detail about the plagues and L/K drew pictures of each one.

They are kind of blurry (if I wasn't so lazy I would scan them instead of pictures)--turning water into blood, frogs, lice, flies, dead livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, killing of firstborn son...

K's...

L's...

The Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle-read the lesson, went into detail about the Ten Commandments and L/K wrote them down on paper for their notebooks. A nearby church had set up a life size Tabernacle for about a week and I wanted to take them to tour that but never got to--and I wasn't real excited about having to take Will and the twins on that tour too.

I would have liked to go into more detail about the Tabernacle, but time didn't allow. And it would have been cool to set up a tent to do this lesson and sing hymns or something in it. Oh well.

Joshua, Jericho, and Rahab-read the lesson. Would have been cool to re-enact the story with a wall of blocks, marching, and trumpets and shouting, but we didn't do that either.

Memory cards and maps have been shafted. Poor things.

Sky Top Apple Orchard...

We went on a field trip to an apple orchard last week. We had never been to this one before and wanted to try it out with our friends. It was a 2 hour drive to get there, up in the mountains. We stayed there for almost 5 hours!

Here is Jonathan, Samuel, Julia, and L, K, W, and Noah...

They had a cute little playhouse...

Maggie and Kendall and Anna Grace...

Listening to the short lesson...

Samuel, Luke and Andrew...
"Three Billy Goats Gruff". Just need a troll. :)

The teacher mommies...

They had some pumpkins too. Hard to get the twins to sit still for a picture on them!

Bo and Noah thoroughly enjoyed picking the apples!

Huge hill to go back up after we had picked. The kids worked hard...

Picnic-ing...

Exploring through a cool bamboo forest...

Noah with his head stuck. I had to get a picture before helping him...
And here is our harvest. Lots of yummy Pink Ladies. One of our favorites!
