Science, Weeks Four and Five-Oceans, Seashore, Deep Sea

We took 2 weeks to cover oceans, seashore, and the deep sea because we were out of town some days and there was also a lot to cover.

Several books we read:
-Mysteries of the Deep
-The Earth is Mostly Ocean-by Allan Fowler. The kid read this individually.
-Down Down Down by Steve Jenkins
-The Deep Sea Floor by Sneed B. Collard
-Ocean Combing: Exploring the Seashore by Jim Arnosky

And of course our trusty Usborne Internet Linked First Encyclopedia of Our World. There were some good websites to look at.

There are 2 more books we liked but I have already returned them to the library and can't find the paper I had written the titles on. I do know that one of them was also internet linked and the website is this. It was cool.

We were at Disney during this time and man, I wanted to go to Sea World. That would have been the ultimate field trip for this 'chapter' but it wasn't in the budget. :)

Instead, we ended the week with a visit to Discovery Place's current exhibit (below):

It was fun and I totally forgot my camera! :(
There was lots of interactive stuff to do, lots of pirate things, neat artifacts from sunken ships to look at, etc.

And then we went to see the IMAX movie Under the Sea. It was cool.

There was SO much we could have covered, but some main topics were waves, tides, seashells, different sea animals, oceans in different parts of the world, why the salt water...
